The Bad Mother's Handbook by Kate Long
This was a really sad book. And not sad like it made me cry, but sad like I just felt really depressed the whole time I was reading it, because their lives were all so tragic and it almost felt too real to be enjoyable. There were some interesting parts of it, like I enjoyed the Northern accents and I like the picture it painted of lower-middle-class life in the 90s in the North of England. But overall it was just too sad and I found the changing perspectives difficult to track at times. (Karen & Charlotte's in particular - it was easier to see when it was Nan narrating.) Not one I'll be reading again.
