Steeped in Stories: Timeless Children's Novels to Refresh Our Tired Souls by Mitali Perkins

2.0

I made it halfway and then simply couldn’t take it anymore. Starts off being about stories—excellent—and exploring the lasting value of specifically children’s stories—yes. Then takes an abrupt turn to the author’s deep Christian beliefs and how she “took Jesus as her boo” at 19. Okaaay. And then she proceeds to offer values-focused analyses exclusively of the faith-based elements of the seven stories she has selected, and provides questions for the reader to basically do their own faith and values inventory. Not what I thought I was signing up for.
