Awful Auntie by David Walliams

4.0

I read this book during my 24-hour readathon, where I reread loads of my favourite children's books that I read when I was younger.

Awful Auntie is a thrilling tale by David Walliams, and I really enjoyed it. I had already read this book around two or three times when I was around 9 or 10, but I still found it very enjoyable years later. There are a surprising amount of gothic horror aspects in this book, which of course are toned down for a younger audience, but are still very much so present, and are fun to identify, now that I have read (far too many) gothic novels which don't tone it down. Overall, this was a very fun reading experience, and it was very fun to revisit after a few years.
