Really tempting to hate the main character due to her deeply unethical actions but the story is just too engaging. Lots of people making terrible decisions here and yet you can really empathize as you get to know them, a tricky magic act in storytelling. Kind of like a more bucolic, less preposterous, heavier Sex and the City.
