New Morning Mercies: A Daily Gospel Devotional by Paul David Tripp

hopeful informative inspiring reflective fast-paced

The is one of my favorite daily devotionals I have ever done. I really am not always a fan of a devotional, but there have been so many helpful thoughts in this one - deep issues that are explained clearly and logically.
I had a bunch highlighted in a digital book and it was returned, so I know I will go through this again another year, and I already know it will speak to me again. I bought the gift edition so I could have a nice copy I could read over and over.

“Isn’t it amazing that each of the fundamental human fears is addressed and solved by the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ?” July 26

“The purpose of the cross is to completely decimate your loyalty to the most seductive / powerful of all idols - the idol of self. … we see it in others and deny it in ourselves. … we make it all about us. … our kingdom won’t come because his kingdom will.” August 3

Feeling alone? August 4

“Fear happens when I look at myself, assess my resources and conclude I do not have what it takes to do what God is calling me to do or to face what I have to face. … no, you should not deny your problems, but if you let them be the subject of your meditation, they will loom larger and larger, and you will grow more and more afraid.” August 26

“Hebrews 11 focuses more on what people did with their lives than it does on the details of their theology.” October 5
