Really like this series. Diverse, fun, encouraging of exploration and thought, adventurous, and with interesting tidbits and secrets about magic. The first book was from Carter's pov and focused primarily on his background, and this one changes up to Leila's viewpoint. The characters are written realistically - they idealize the wrong person, hold onto fears from long ago, and struggle to reveal their deepest truths to those they love.
The audiobooks are fantastic.
