Red Clay by Charles B. Fancher
5.0
Charles B. Fancher knows how to write an epic story spanning generations that you simply never want to let go of. From the civil war era to the Jim Crow laws in Alabama, Felix has experienced a lot in his lifetime. Red Clay follows that journey from a young slave boy to his freedom, with everything that happens in between.
I appreciated that the author began the story at Felix's funeral and then started the storytelling because it was the only thing that kept my heart in place throughout the book. With easily investable characters, I experienced a range of emotions while reading and listening to Red Clay.
Red Clay will easily be in my top 10 list of the year, it's impactful in a way that is hard to describe.
Thank you Blackstone Publishing for the gifted ARC.
