Much like all the novellas in this series, this was a very quick read! It started out promising. I immediately sympathized with Nadya and her unique experience of being born disabled and a foreign orphan adopted by Americans. I liked how she believed she was perfect as she was and didn't need to be fixed, yet later in the book she gets a magical arm, which I felt went against this message. When she arrived in Belyyreka, it felt like everything was going too well, and I was waiting for the other shoe to drop, and it did, but not until the very end of the book! The ending was so abrupt and unsatisfying, I hated it.
Moderate: Ableism
Minor: Violence, Pregnancy, Abandonment
