The Odyssey by Homer
5.0

This work, as other pieces of ancient literature obviously cannot be reviewed, so this is not that.

I do not know if it just my mania (al though I will say here that despite being on medication to control mania) this was EXTREMELY EXCITING to read, closer to how I felt reading the Gilgamesh. Works of literature to forever re-read and read commentaries on.
For readers who enjoy other ancient literature, the amount of mimesis between The Odyssey and older, and then newer (gospels) pieces of literature is astounding. I was specifically amused by the similarity between Tablet 5 of Gilgamesh, and book 9 of the odyssey; schematically pointed out by Bruce Louden in his book Homer's Odyssey and the Near East

While, I will say the Odyssey does not feel as mysterious, how to say, otherworldly as the Gilgamesh; for example take the cedar forest and its soundscape, nor does it have its structural complexity(being symmetrical) yet even still, it feels insanely FRESH. Making the narrator a lord known for LYING, even when it doesn't benefit him, is genius, and his grandfather the greatest liar that ever lived.
