100 Boyfriends by Brontez Purnell

4.0

Brash, open-hearted, and lewd as hell, Brontez Purnell's collection of micro and short fiction, mainly centering on gay relationship-building and the tribulations therein, is one of the funniest books I've read in recent memory, like meeting up with a friend for a cocktail and hearing the whole story about where they've been and why they didn't get home last night. In the midst of the jokes about stroke game and unfortunate STDs are moments of earnest yearning and meditations on the intersection of blackness and queerness. One of the essential releases of 2021 thus far.
