The Final Empire by Brandon Sanderson
adventurous
dark
funny
mysterious
tense
medium-paced
3.5
I enjoyed this but it kind of felt like a whole trilogy of books stuffed into one which I actually mostly liked except for the fact that the book felt much longer than it actually was.
Also what was going on with the format? a chapter would end on one page and another would start on the same page? idk
I liked the plotline but I would almost say the Stormlight magic system makes more sense than this one does, but maybe that’s because the Stormlight books had a little more buildup/explanation of the system than this did. I understood how it worked about halfway through but I don’t understand what “burning” is yet, like… are they literally burning the metals or is it metaphorical?
Anyway I did like this book a lot. RIP Kelsier he was my favorite (I am so upset cmon Sanderson) and I get WHY he died but I just didn’t like it
The story was very convoluted and I think I might need to do a reread at some point because I’m a little confused but it’s all good :)
