Even after reading the prequel, which really should have just been part of this book, I am at a loss for these characters and the "great love" they have for each other.
I haven't read the other Hockey series by this author, but when it comes to spin-off books I feel like there should be some better ground work to show their friendship before throwing the reader into their romance. I didn't really buy their romance. It felt very surface level. I also didn't really buy their friendship either. Being friends for nearly a decade I would expect some inside jokes or something, but nothing. It was all sex and thoughts of how hot or sexy they found each other. Things moved too fast for me to care about them as a couple.
Also at times I had a hard time believing they were in their 30s. Our boy Garrett was thinking of pregnancy like it was 1910... and I just couldn't. I just don't find it believable that he was that clueless, he's in his 30s. If the character was 22 or something, then maybe I could believe they were that dumb.
