Battlefield Earth: A Saga of the Year 3000 by L. Ron Hubbard

5.0

Before receiving a copy of this audio book cd set, I had seen the John Travolta movie version of this story, but always wondered what the book was like. As is true in many cases, the book is better than the movie. Further, this is probably one of the most engaging audio books I have ever heard. Rather than one monotone narrator, this selection features multiple voice actors, as well as background noises to match the action of the story. In fact, it is so interesting that even my girls, 9 and 5, listen to it with me in the car. My 9 year old loves it, asking questions and laughing when something humorous happens.

This is a hefty audio book, 44 cd's in all, separated into 2 sets of 22 within a nice storage box. Yet like I said above, it keeps you interested to see what's going to happen next. Many times I will give up on an audio book because I get bored and miss content because I stop paying attention as it plays on while I drive. As a result, I rarely bother with audio books at all. But this is one I can see myself listening to again in the future.
