Overall well written just not the type of horror I prefer, felt more fucked up instead of scary. There is good body horror with regards to the infection, how it progresses, and how the infected view themselves. The actual spread within the group felt slow, and the island felt too big. Characters were seperated for hours more then once. There is also a depiction of a psychopath whose backstory includes graphic animal torture and arousal from torture/violence. It felt unnecessary as it was clear prior to that he was a psychopath.

The end cave scenes were my favorite, that was the vibe I wished the whole book had. They felt more intense, and creepy.
