I’m writing an overall review of the four book series. These are military science fiction and if you understand that - you’re going to be on board. Other reviewers mention the slow pace. It is slow but so is an eight month slog on foot across a hostile landscape. The pace makes sense. Is this series full of happy endings? No. It’s realistic. People die. People the reader is invested in - die. Are things tied up neatly in a beautiful bow by the end of book? No. But life seldom provides us with neat endings.

The bottom line is it’s a GOOD series. It’s worth a reader’s effort. Time well spent.
