Young Avengers by Allan Heinberg

4.0

This would have been a 3 stars if not for the later part of the comic.

The first part was good but any fun I could have derived from it was sucked away by Patriot. Ugh. I really disliked him in the "La croisade des enfants", when I read about the Young Avengers for the first time and boy did this one confirm that it was not a slight of judgement from me. The character is just awful. Annoying, foolish, bossy, stubborn, self-centered. Just no thanks. Why create such a dislikable character? Seriously though? Does anyone has him as their favourites? Why create such a character? The only thing which lessened my dislike for him was the whole grandpa backstory which he told Jessica (I should underline here that the impact of this backstory lost much over the fact that the grandpa could in fact defend himself). It is a pity that one of the rare black superheroes (as Luke points out) has been attributed such an irritating personality.

Other thing which rubbed me the wrong way : how they were acting stupidly. Especially the fact that at first they don't want to send Iron lad back then suddenly change their mind for the plot's convenience.

Also the insta love thing between Iron lad and Cassie was a letdown.

Aside from this, the story is far more enjoyable around the end.

I particularly like Wiccan and Tommy. Also liked the plot twist.
