Dearly by Margaret Atwood

2.0

I was hesitant to give my honest two star review, because I don’t want to deter anyone from giving it a chance. I am an advocate for reading poetry! I just personally did not enjoy this. It didn’t move me emotionally, and I didn’t find the language or meter of the poems to be alluring. Atwood is a legend and a mastermind when it comes to fiction. I think this speaks to why she is revered for her fiction and not here poetry. By all means give it a try, maybe you’ll love it. It just wasn’t for me. For comparison, contemporary poets I like are Ada Límon and Bianca Stone.
