Mapping the Interior
by Stephen Graham Jones
This was such a creepy scary book! Scaredy-cat as I am, I was still drawn to it, wearily pushing myself to flip the pages. It had a slow start, but about halfway through things really started to hit the fan. What a scary concept, a ghost coming back to feed on the living so that they can materialize more? Uhhhhhhhhh scary. The narrator's voice was a bit stunted and awkward at times, but the cadence of the narrative overall was unique. It made you slow down and relish in the all the scary details. I loved the Native American center of it all, the examination of identity and trauma that permeates every part of this book.
