First Grave on the Right
by Darynda Jones
Wow. I finished this book about a week or two again, along with its sequel.
This was the first time I really had read anything under the Paranormal Romance genre. My delve into this world was successful and I came back with love for many hilarious characters, a swoon for one particular demon, and envy for a great plot.
There is no question this deserves 5 stars.
The main character, Charley Davidson, is witty, dangerous, and hilarious. While reading this in class, I couldn't help but laugh out loud a few times. Don't try this at home, kids. ;)
On her private investigating adventures, she comes across three murdered lawyers, and she helps to solve their case. Accompanied by her butt kicking best friend, Cookie, a hot cop, Garrett, and the occasional visit from the steaming man who haunts her dreams, Reyes, Charley has her hands full.
What I liked most about this book was how easily Darynda Jones writes. Her characters jump off the page flawlessly, and you just can't stop turning. Her writing isn't choppy or all over the places. Just right.
Sorry for the jumbly review~ If you haven't already read this book, go get it at your local library. I promise you it's worth it.
