lorriemore 's review for:
Flights
by Olga Tokarczuk
really gorgeous prose. a few of the days i picked this up to read i really wasn't feeling it, but at least as many i was really taken in by it. on the days i was resisting it i felt frustrated by how many things it flitted between without spending much time on them; on the others, i enjoyed the longer sections as short stories and the shorter sections as witty, thoughtful comments on place, identity, and change in a range of forms. i think being slightly frustrated with an interesting book is a much better experience than just being bored. particularly as tokarczuk clearly isn't covering so many things so briefly because she can't delve deeper into any of them. a worthwhile read!
