The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue by V.E. Schwab

4.75

This book is beautiful. The way that the author describes every character and ever moment is like poetry.

This book is very different from other books. It's subtle and it draws you in and you can't even tell why.

Books should have conflict, and this book certainly had conflict. But it was quiet and a feeling and hard to describe with words. I've never read a book like that before. This is so character driven that I couldn't even describe the major conflict, it's just something you feel. You just have to read it.

The only issue I had with this book was how slow going it was for the first third or so. But it is so worth it in the end. It's especially impressive because despite the fact that this book is so far from the typical genres and moods I read, it absolutely managed to draw me in.

And speaking of the end, the one in this book is incredible. As I neared the last pages, I still had no idea where it was going to go. There were so many possibilities and so many of them would have been thoroughly wrong. The author managed to pick the perfect ending and execute it in the perfect way. I feel bittersweet, but content.
