Fighting for Rain by BB Easton

slow-paced

3.5

This is where it gets hard and why I really shy away from trilogies.  Did this book captivate me and consume me?  Yes.  I was thoroughly engaged and couldn't put it down but I feel like that was because I was waiting for Wes to come back.  While he was physically present at the beginning of the book he had mentally and emotionally checked out until he physically checked out.  And he didn't come back until about 68% into the book.  That is a bummer for me.  I was really hoping that by the title of this book that he was actually fighting for Rain.  But he didn't.  And she didn't fight for herself either.  She became a shell of herself which I understand at some level but if Wes and Rain weren't fighting . . . who was?  No one I cared about that would suggest the title.  So yes, I couldn't put this one down but I missed seeing Wes and Rain together so I didn't love it as much as the first one.
