Bound by Duty
by Cora Reilly
3.5⭐️
Cora Reilly has such an addictive writing style, I can’t put these books down.
Considering I usually dislike the whole “pining for a dead ex” trope, this was actually a really enjoyable read even if it made my heart ache for Valentina. It was difficult watching her crave a type of open love she was never able to get. But that’s what makes these books so realistic, Cora writes men who don’t know how to love openly and freely, they are ruthless mafia members after all.
I think the same faults apply to this book as they did with the first one. It needed a dual pov for us to feel more connected to the mmc, and it needed a more satisfying ending. It felt like I was left on a bittersweet note where I’m happy but didn’t get enough. The ratio of emotional slowburn to happy ending is not hitting right for me.
I’m so wrapped up in this series so far, I can’t find it in me to even take a break I just want to go onto the next!!!
