Systems Theory and Family Therapy: A Primer, 3rd Edition by Raphael J. Becvar, Dorothy Stroh Becvar
3.0
While I enjoyed the theoretical thinking of the text, I found the writing rather verbose and with an air of inaccessibility about it. Where things could be described more plainly, we are given concepts in a complex way that caused me, a more average reader, to feel discouraged and uncertain of the ideas I was engaging with. As a student, I did my best to high light what seemed to be the most important pieces and did my best not to dwell on what I might have misinterpreted. I do appreciate at the end we are reminded that these theories are here to help us develop our own theories around the systems perspective.
