This book did really grow on me; at first I was very unsure if I'd make it to the end. I thought Simon was deeply unlikeable in his self-centred nature, but by the end, I was left with the feeling of this being a true capturing of the exploration of queerness and the joy that can come from that. I take some issues with the author writing about a queer teenage boy's experience, but I did think it was accurately captured, nonetheless. There is something of 'Perks of Being a Wallflower' about it, though a little toned down - if that's the kind of thing you're looking for.
