A Conjuring of Light by V.E. Schwab

Did not finish book. Stopped at 48%.
I read half the book and honestly, what's the point? It's a 600+ page boss battle where they are trying to beat Osaron the whole time. I'm 300 pages in and I know it's going to take them at least another 200 pages to beat him but they will and they'll all live happily ever after - at least our main 4 - but the other characters will probably die tragically. I'm tired of both grumpy Kell and undefeatable Lila. I don't believe they are in love, maybe they love themselves and that's why they are meant to be together? I'm still invested in Rhy & Alucard and I believe their chemistry completely...but it's not a big enough aspect of the story for me to continue. This series went from amazing fantasy mystery that kept me on the edge of my toes (book 1) to okay tournament arc that at least had some new characters I adored (book 2) to the most predictable 600 page dull fight sequence (book 3). A lot of people seem to love this conclusion but I'm unimpressed and ready for something more interesting so I'm stopping halfway through. I honestly wish the first one was a standalone. I get so bummed when trilogies go downhill like this.
