Don't Ask Me Where I'm from by Jennifer De Leon

4.0

This was a wonderful book that looks into the lives of children born in the US to undocumented immigrants as well as children/teenagers living in the inner-city attending underfunded schools and what its like for those that are chosen for special programs that get them into better schools. This book shows the difficulty that some students face being of color, being poor, being different, being from a different part of the city, etc.

The book starts a little slow and it's a bit of a long burn to the conclusion. A lot happens all at once at/near the end. Which was mildly annoying but it was a great read anyway and had a decent ending.
