The Whitechapel Fiend by Cassandra Clare, Maureen Johnson
5.0

“So you just came here to torture me and talk about yourself?” Simon demanded.
“Oh, Simon, Simon, Simon,” said Jace. “You may not remember, but that’s kind of our thing.”

The first part of this story is hilarious. Jace shows up to teach the trainee ShadowHunters how to fall from a tree without (serious) injury. It was absolutely hilarious! It was super nice of Jace to stop laughing at Simon and actually help him do his best though.

“Where did he find the dagger?” Tessa asked.
“It’s possible I took him to the weapons room,” Will said.
“Is it?”
“It is, yes. It’s possible.”
“And it’s possible he somehow got a dagger from where it is secured on the wall, out of his reach,” Tessa said.
“We live in a world of possibilities,” Will said.

I forgot how much I missed Will Herondale. I almost cried from the cuteness of Will and Tessa and their little family and Will's sarcastic quirkiness. It was great to see Tessa make an appearance at the ShadowHunter academy (Simon was attracted to her hahah) but it just reminded me that Will wasn't around anymore, which was really upsetting. I love that Will always calls on Brother Zachariah, even for simple things like a broken toe and I was so scared but then it was okay and I love that one of my favourite trios was back together.

But Back to Simon. That letter he wrote at the end was absolutely adorable and hilarious and Jace has found out about his past and Jace was yet again manipulating Simon's memory of himself haha. I really want to know why Jace wishes Simon remembered him. So excited for the next one, this has definitely been my favourite of these novellas so far.
