Within These Walls by Ania Ahlborn
3.0

So I own all of Ania Ahlborn's stories, including special editions, and as much as it pains me to say, this was probably her weakest story. I think Ania excels when writing atmospheric supernatural stories (except for Brother because, let us be honest, that story rocks). Unfortunately, within These Walls fell short of expectation which is a shame, I love cult horror, but I just wasn't in love with this one. I could literally care less about any of the characters, whom, in the end, I was supposed to care a lot about suddenly. There was a lot of story, but It felt like maybe it would've been better suited as two books, or maybe if so much on the story didn't focus on Jeanie hating her dad, her dad self-pitying, and also the friends who just didn't add anything to the story. Instead, I found that I enjoyed the little bit of supernatural interference and really selling what a creep Jeffery was. I honestly hate leaving a review like this, but it is all just my opinion, and as always, I say give it a shot anyway. Not everyone has my taste and vice versa. Good luck and happy reading! x
