I found this really sprawling and odd, but also clever and sometimes funny. Supposedly it’s a comic novel, but where it’s intentionally humorous I don’t seem to respond that way. A lot of the time I am more aware of the pathos that seems to be the ever-present backdrop to the satirical fireworks. I am in awe of the author’s gift for metaphor and insightful weirdness. Quite long, but an interesting journey.
