3.5 stars.
I enjoyed this sequel but did not love it the 2nd time around. I found it tedious to get through.
The characters had no growth since they were already pretty well developed from the 1st book. I just hoped we would see more development and exploration for Brienna. The plot twists did surprise me as I had forgotten most of the plot points.
It depicts the reality of what happens after a war is won...the clean up, trying to gather allies, prosecuting the criminals. I loved getting into Cartier's head in this. I love him and Brienna. I feel like the first book was better cause I absolutely adore The Queen's Rising.
I can't wait to read more books by Rebecca Ross.
