A Fortunate Life
by Albert B. Facey
A local classic that Australian schoolkids often have to read for school.
Good but odd and imperfect. Easy to read. Language is simple and the story is vivid. Reads like a grandfather from an earlier generation telling stories about his life to his grandkids. I don't think it's anywhere near 100% true, but it does give a clear, even if exaggerated, picture of life in Western Australia a bit over a hundred years ago.
Like the Little House on the Prairie books, but harsher, with more bragging and complaining.
