Looking for Smoke
by K.A. Cobell
Generally speaking, I tend to enjoy books written by Indigenous authors because it’s how I learn about the culture. I love that even fiction novels can teach me things.
A young Blackfeet girl went missing a few months ago, and now another girl is found strangled during a celebration. The missing girl’s sister (Loren), and her grandmother, want this mystery solved and they don’t trust the tribal police to figure it out. Loren and a few other Blackfeet teen are looking for answers while not exactly trusting one another.
Looking for Smoke has a good mystery and it focuses on a very important issue: Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women. I liked this group of characters and didn’t figure it all out myself so it was a fun surprise. except for that bit about Geraldine. She was way too suspicious when she was told Jason was shot in the barn
