Would have been much better had it not been named „contemporary”. This doesn’t happen in real life!!! People have family problems, but there is no „park” in their lives to lean on and talk to... stupid!

They don’t need to look like red fat bubbles of cotton to be a misfited mess. No need to have small eyes or awkward stuff in hair to be not understood. It is a cute portrayal of some teenage romance drama, nothing else. Dont you dare make that AND the whatever the stepdad’s name was situation RELATABLE. Loneliness is what is worse than anything one could possibly experience.
Times when I would fall for this bullshit are over...
