Enemies/rivals to lovers, sapphic romance. A little bit of forced proximity too. Plenty of spice, maybe a little heavy on licking of lips 😅. It took me a while to get into it, the main characters are really invested in competition and winning, and it gets pretty obnoxious... But it does ease into sweetness eventually. Mostly 😅. I will agree with the main characters in another one of Lee's books, "A Lesbian's Guide To Women", that the
third act breakup is a total bore of a miscommunication trope
. But fortunately that part isn't very long
or dramatic
. I had delayed reading this one because I'm not a fan of that particular trope, but honestly I was thru it in about 5 minutes, which was far less time than the main characters spent annoying me by senselessly trying to one-up each other 🤣. Promises were kept: this is a romance so there is a happily ever after. Not my favorite by Lee but I did enjoy it.
