A beautiful story with a metatextual exploration of how history is recorded and how the same story is told and remembered by the different cultures. The love story told from two different perspectives made it richer to read and the constant tension of the main character's life being on the line gives some stakes to the storytelling. Was hard to put down, with its length not working against it and leaving me somber but satisfied.
