The Poisoner
by I.V. Ophelia
First of all, loved both Alina and Silas and how unhinged they were in their own ways. Their hatred made some of their interactions so funny (like the axe throwing scene), and Silas’ POV delivered some hilarious lines. Actually some of Alina’s too.
But after the kidnapping everything kind of just went south for me. It was pretty obvious who the bad guy actually was, but the other character’s involvement were weird. Silas is obviously planning something bigger, and I don’t actually believe he has turned on Alina, but is doing things for her safety. BUT, everything he allowed being done to her, especially the dual feeding scene, really put me off. He went from a totally possessive menace to that. And they way he couldn’t even tell her a smidge of what was going on and instead throwing a jealous temper tantrum in reaction to her being upset. Ugh.
I do really want to keep reading the series, and hopefully book 2 explains things better. The ending was rushed, but I enjoyed the rest of the book very much.
