As it’s indie, I’m not going to comment on the writing aspects that pulled me out frequently but I will say that exclamation points in thoughts just… shouldn’t be done.

*SPOILERS*

My major points of contention:

1. Insta-love within seconds from Dex. Didn’t know the girl from Adam, she’s a stranger looking after his kids, and suddenly he wants her forever. It also pains me when a man is so clearly written by a woman. The best authors make you forget that. Dex spoke and thought like a woman, I couldn’t get past it.

2. The constant back and forth with staying. At one point I almost threw my kindle when she said “he hasn’t actually asked me to stay” when I have read him say those words a nauseating amount of times. A NAUSEATING AMOUNT.

3. A SENATOR, running for office, BROKE a woman’s ARM because she pointed out that his son was a bully to the school? And then they just never talked about it again?!?

4. The friends constantly being around and showing up out of nowhere at the most convenient times really bothered me.

The plot itself held an excellent promise, but the story could have been finer tuned. I could have really enjoyed it with some tweaking.
