The Intelligent Asset Allocator: How to Build Your Portfolio to Maximize Returns and Minimize Risk by William J. Bernstein

4.0

I really liked this book.

I think the story goes that Mr. Bernstein wrote many articles on investing for the individual online until, after much encouragement and support from his wife, peers and readers, combined these into the book that this is today.

As such, the book is focused and dense with value. It's also combined with straightforward analogies, such as Uncle Fred's coin toss, concise explanations embedded within the larger text, and interjections of humour and wit that make the entire read enjoyable from start to finish.

I searched for a book on this topic after reading that asset allocation is one of the most fundamental concepts to grasp for the individual investor - in Tony Robbins' Money. Its therefore particularly satisfying that this book really hits the mark; the book's content laying down exactly what you are hoping for from what the title suggests.

For an introduction to asset allocation, I struggle to imagine anything better.
