The Apple Tree by Jewel E. Ann
5.0

The Apple Tree is the second book in this series. This time it’s about the middle child, Eve. She’s eighteen years old, already graduated high school, has a job cleaning motel rooms and still lives with her parents. She’s kind of drifting through her life with no set goal.  It’s tough being the small town Pastor’s daughter.

Kyle Collins and his five year old son, Josh, move next door to them. He’s 28 and her father’s best friend’s younger brother. When he and Eve meet, they have immediate sparks. Thrown together by her mother as a babysitter to Josh only fuels their fire.

Age gap is a touchy trope— especially when the FMC is so young. It’s seen as forbidden. I love that the author included Kyle’s POV throughout the story. He got that it was forbidden, but he also couldn’t stop his feelings towards Eve. Despite their age differences, (which he brought up to her waayyyy too many times), they just worked. They got each other’s humor and sarcasm.

This is quite an emotional story. I loved reading until the end to see how the author would give these two their happily ever after.

Thank you to the author and Valentines PR for an advanced readers copy. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
