Friends, THIS is how you retell Peter Pan without being super obvious you're retelling Peter Pan. I love the Downton Abby vibes this story was set in. I absolutely fell in love with Molly, and how she views the world in terms of stories; I do too! The whole narrative of her reclaiming her personality & joy again was so great. Shawna Woodland does a really great job at writing relationships & their tension...friends to lovers, sisters, family, society, and everything in between. Sometimes it felt more like telling not showing, but overall it was enjoyable. The sequel, however, does make me a bit nervous. There's been a lot of stories recently where the main love interest is the dark, morally grey sad guy, which is fine... But when it comes to Peter Pan, I'm a golden boy girl all the way.
Moderate: Grief
Minor: Domestic abuse, Death of parent
