My husband asked me to read it, so I did. He read them when he was a teenager, so his own view isn't necessarily as recent as mine. I thought the plot was interesting, but the writing was pretty bad. Pretty darn bad, at times. I probably won't be reading the rest of the series, because I've been assured that it really doesn't get better.
