A Man Called Ove by Fredrik Backman

3.0

Linguistically Fredrik Backman does something very interesting here where the chapters that are meant to be flashbacks key titles are “ A man who WAS Ove,” versus present tense, “A man who IS Ove,” thus giving a subtle inclination for the readers into which time we’ve found ourselves. Not only that but it also hints at the fact that Ove will undergo some grand transformation by the end of the novel. Very sweet story. Love a curmudgeon. Excited to see the movie as it was filmed here in Pittsburgh.
