A Killer Stitch
by Maggie Sefton
I read these cheap paperbacks between more serious books, so I usually don't give them too much credence to begin with. However, this one was a real stinker.
Yes, the books are cheesy and predictable but the setting is cute and the main characters so cheerful that it can be a nice break.
This book had me wondering how many murders one group of friends will endure before they get skeptical. Four murders in the same friend group and nobody bats an eye? Couldn't the author come up with anything else? A kidnapping, vandalism, something precious stolen? I've got a few more on my shelf so I'm praying the next few involve better plot devices.
I could also barely remember who anyone was since we don't get many descriptions of the characters upon their introductions. All the periphery characters are just one big blur, which amazingly didn't stop me from following the story (which goes to show just how simple the story is).
I suppose you get what you pay for so I can't complain too much, and usually don't about this easy-going series. This book was bad but it's lighthearted moments kept me reading it. I'm in bed sick so I wasn't exactly trying to read War & Peace anyway.
