I just read this wonderful collection of poetry called "Pan Dulce for the Latinx Soul" by Sinai Cota.
Sinai Cota writes very relatable poetry for Latinx folks who find themselves between the two worlds of Mexico and the US. That feeling of not really belonging fully in one place, the feeling of our identity being something outside of the norm, and also that link to our ancestors that may be severed as we try to assimilate to US culture.
I loved that it opens up conversations about our culture, education, mental health, self-acceptance, and family relationships within the Latinx context. Some of the poems truly made me feel seen and gave me words to name certain feelings that I haven't been able to fully understand.
The back of the book also has prompts to help process the ideas explored in the poems and also some coloring pages to calm the mind afterwards.
