I’ve seen this around for months and finally decided to give it a try.

This was by far one of the best smut-free, romance books I’ve ever read. For those looking to wean themselves off smut I highly recommend this 😅 Great love stories are possible without explicit sex scenes!

This was so close to being a five star read but two things changed my mind.

1. She never apologized to her sister. I found that disturbing and made me dislike the character a bit. Her sister went out of her way to apologize (multiple times), but even after finding out their father had never truly been left alone, the FMC didn’t take accountability for the things she said to her sister. I was waiting for her to come to that realization and I thought it was weird that it was never addressed. Part of me wonders if skimming over that is somehow autobiographical (read: the author had a similar experience and still doesn’t think she was wrong). It seems so obvious that they were both in the wrong for the things they said to each other, but only one person bothered to apologize.

2. I always take a star away for lack of diversity. This time I took .75. Logan was the one diverse character in the entire book- biracial, gay and from a foreign country (the  UK so not that foreign). But his background didn’t matter. Diversity for me means not just the colour of a character’s skin, but an exploration of their experience. So yes, there was a Black guy in this book, but we never really find out who he is. This was a book about two white people.
