I’m not a fan of characters that start out as ass***** however it’s used often in enemies to lovers stories and the pain and disgust of these characters almost always ends in a great payoff for the reader
So as I went into this book, I knew that I wasn’t going to be a fan of Seb’s. He was rather petulant and (what’s the word re: being prejudiced against an entire population?!). Anyway, I was prepared for the ohhh shifters are mean and evil and horrible…up to a point.
When Tim, our awesome pack doctor falls for Seb you think - yes - a love of a good wolf is all this selfish human needs to get over himself.
And for awhile, I was hopeful. But by the 75% point if the character is not showing signs of growth, how does the author expect to hold my attention? Win me over?
I listened to the audio version of the book and Antony Ferguson did a great job with the material he had to work with.
And I did finish the book in small pieces - 10 minutes here and there because after that 75% point in time, I knew that emotionally investing in this book was a big mistake for me. Because each book in the series has cross-over characters, I stuck this out in anticipation of the next book.
To the author: I enjoyed many of your books and I really wish that you would re-write parts of Seb’s character. He’s not sympathetic enough for us to tolerates hours end hours of petulant and self-centered behavior.
