The Black Song by Anthony Ryan

3.0

A fine conclusion to the Raven's Shadow story. It couldn't capture the feeling of the very first book, Blood Song, and wasn't as fresh and interesting as the previous book, The Wolf's Call (which brought a of new and interesting elements to the series). It wrapped everything up as expected, the first half of the book was much better though. The Black Song was a really good idea/concept but in execution it was basically the same as his original power but just filled with rage and murder. I was hoping it would add more intrigue and doubt to his actions, but it was just simply rage. The temple of spears was really cool and I liked learning more about that. Obvar returning to life in Sho Tsai's body was good and kind of turning into a good guy. Kelhbrand used to be a good antagonist in the ending he just was nothing.

Again, it was a fine conclusion. Definitely worth reading but nothing super exciting or groundbreaking happening in my opinion. Still much better than Queen of Fire, however.
