This is a wonderful sequel to the most amazing book: The Lightning-Struck Heart!

This book did feel more serious than the first. The focus is more on Sam's....let's say quest (and not that other word). As such, I didn't feel that this book had as much humour and banter as the first, which are the two aspects that made me fall in love with this series in the first place. So, that was a little disappointing. The quest has gotten me excited though, and I really want to continue with the series, but alas I have to wait and wrap up some other books before their due dates first. I do wonder how much of this specific quest is going to stretch along the series. I really want to get to finding Gary's horn, but I may have to try and be patient. I'm all signed on for the dragons, though, so I will see what the next book holds.

I am super exited to see Tiggy step up his game. Gary is always going to be my favourite and Kevin, Ryan, and Sam, are already really well flushed out, but I felt Tiggy was lacking in the first book. I felt that Tiggy was underestimated and that the way Klune did his voice made him sound stupid, but he isn't. Tiggy is a wonderful half-giant how is so full of love and would anything for his friends. It was really great to see Klune build on Tiggy's character and make him more of how I envisioned him come to life in this book. I hope it keeps going for the whole of the series.

I feel a need to give a shoutout to Zero. A great new character and I cannot wait for him to become part of the group. Klune does an amazing job of giving us new characters, while still keeping the group intact and unique. Ruv was alright, but since he is not part of the core group I think it is meant for us to be okay to turn our backs on him an not see him in the rest of the series. Although, he may come back, there is no way to know until we read the books.

A great second book. It builds on the first and we move away from introductions and learning the characters to a great quest. I am excited to continue this series and get back into adventures with Team Sam. Also dragons. Dragons are always a win.
