The message of the book is an inspiring one and is a very interesting commentary on body image and the way women are treated in Japanese society, however the writing was very slow for quite a bit of the book with unnecessarily long descriptions, and I thought that Kajii’s trial could’ve been explored further, I’m still not any clearer on whether she did commit the crimes or not by the end of the book.
